NASA Direct webcast question and answer session with Jim Slavin, ST5's project scientist. NASA's three ST5 miniaturized satellites will test and validate new technologies for future science missions and map the intensity and direction of magnetic fields within the inner magnetosphere. Studying this region may help scientists understand the space weather that disrupts our communication, navigation, and power systems. ST5 will launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base, in Calif. and is scheduled to operate in space for at least 90 days.
