iss070e038352 (Dec. 12, 2023) --- JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut and Expedition 70 Flight Engineer Satoshi Furukawa installs a small satellite orbital deployer into the Kibo laboratory module’s airlock. The Japanese robotic arm, externally attached to Kibo, grapples the deployer and removes it from the airlock after it is depressurized and opened. The deployer is then positioned outside and pointed away from the station for the release of CubeSats into Earth orbit for educational, private, and governmental research.
