U.S. COMMERCIAL CARGO SHIP ARRIVES AT THE SPACE STATION Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus cargo craft arrived at the International Space Station Nov. 4, two days after its launch atop the company’s Antares rocket from the Wallops Flight Facility, Virginia. Named the “S.S. Alan Bean” after the late NASA astronaut who became the fourth human to walk on the moon 50 years ago this month, the unpiloted Cygnus was captured by Expedition 61 Flight Engineers Jessica Meir and Christina Koch using the station’s Canadarm2 robotic arm. A few hours after its capture, Cygnus, loaded with some four tons of scientific experiments and supplies, was installed to the Earth-facing port of the Unity module and bolted into place for a two-month stay at the orbital outpost.
