Earth Observation
ISS040-E-071607 (21 July 2014) --- Flying approximately 223 nautical miles above the eastern Pacific Ocean one of the Expedition 40 crew members aboard the International Space Station recorded this early morning image featuring southern California. Because of city lights, several points in the Los Angeles Basin and San Diego area can be delineated. The dark area at bottom occupying over half of the image's space is the waters of the eastern Pacific.
