ISS016-E-027214 (4 Feb. 2008) --- Backdropped by the blackness of space, an unpiloted Progress 27 supply vehicle departs from the Pirs Docking Compartment of the International Space Station on Feb. 4, 2008, carrying its load of trash and unneeded equipment to be deorbited and burned up in Earth's atmosphere. The undocking clears the way for the arrival of a new Progress 28, planned to launch Feb. 5 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and dock with the station on Feb. 7.
