NASA completed RS-25 developmental engine testing on March 30 with a full-duration hot fire test to support future engines that will help launch Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion astronauts deeper into space than ever. Operators fired RS-25 engine No. 0525 for about eight-and-a-half minutes (500 seconds) with up to 111% power on the Fred Haise Test Stand at Stennis Space Center. This hot fire completed the fourth test series and positions Aerojet Rocketdyne, lead contractor for NASA’s SLS engines, to produce new RS-25s for future use.
