Created using data collected by the JunoCam imager aboard NASA's Juno spacecraft, this animation is an artist's concept that shows a view of a mountain on the Jovian moon Io. The data was recorded during close flybys of the moon in December 2023 and February 2024. The mountain, which the Juno science team has nicknamed "Steeple Mountain," is between 3 and 4.3 miles (5 and 7 kilometers) in height. One side of Steeple Mountain is in shade in the animation because only one side of the mountain was illuminated when imaged by JunoCam.
