Notsuke Peninsula, Japan
The Notsuke Peninsula is on the east coast of Hokkaido, Japan. Its name is derived from the Ainu word for jawbone. The curved peninsula is the longest sandspit in the country (26 km), formed by the deposition of sand carried by offshore currents. A 15 km road stretches from the base of the peninsula to a nature center and is known as the "Flower Road".
