
Cotahuasi Canyon, near the city of Arequipa, Peru, is one of the deepest canyons in the world. It reaches a maximum depth of 3,350 m, twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. Volcanic peaks nearby reach altitudes of over 6,000 meters. The perspective view is draped over an ASTER DEM, and projected with no vertical exaggeration.
