NASA Rings Nasdaq Closing Bell after InSight Landing on Mars

NASA Deputy Associate Administrator Melanie Saunders and former NASA astronaut Mike Massimino ring the closing bell of the Nasdaq after the NASA's InSight lander successfully touched down on the surface of Mars, Monday, Nov. 26, 2018 at the Nasdaq MarketSite in New York City. The lander sent a signal affirming a completed landing sequence at approximately 3 p.m. EST (noon PST) after touching down on the western side of a flat, smooth expanse of lava called Elysium Planitila. InSight, short for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport, is a Mars lander designed to study the "inner space" of Mars: its crust, mantle, and core.
