NASA Barge Departs Michoud with Hardware for Three Different Artemis Missions

Bound for Kennedy Space Center in Florida, NASA’s Pegasus barge departed the agency’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans on Aug. 29 with multi-mission hardware for the Artemis campaign. Pegasus is ferrying hardware for three different crewed Artemis missions to the Space Coast. The SLS launch vehicle stage adapter for Artemis II was loaded onto the barge at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, Aug. 21. Before going to Florida, the barge stopped at Michoud to pick-up core stage hardware for future SLS flights. The boat-tail that serves as a fairing around the engine section for Artemis III was loaded onto the barge Aug. 27 with the engine section for Artemis IV following Aug. 28. Once at Kennedy, the adapter will be prepared for Artemis II stacking operations, while the core stage hardware will be moved to the Space Station Processing Facility for outfitting.
