Representatives from NASA, SpaceX, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the European Space Agency (ESA) participate in a news conference at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Friday, April 23, following the launch of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-2 mission to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. Participants include: NASA Acting Administrator Steve Jurzczyk; Kathy Lueders, associate administrator, Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters; Hiroshi Sasaki, vice president and director general, JAXA’s Human Spaceflight Technology Directorate, Frank de Winne, manager, International Space Station Program, ESA and Elon Musk, SpaceX chief engineer. The SpaceX Crew Dragon, Endeavour, carrying Crew Dragon Commander Shane Kimbrough, Pilot Megan McArthur, Mission Specialist Akihiko Hashide, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Mission Specialist Thomas Pesquet, European Space Agency (ESA), launched at 5:49 a.m. EDT, on a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy.
