Representatives from NASA, SpaceX, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the European Space Agency (ESA) and the U.S. Air Force 45th Weather Squadron participate in a news conference following the Launch Readiness Review at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in advance of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-2 mission to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. Participants include: Steve Stich, manager, Commercial Crew Program; Joel Montalbano, manager, International Space Station; Kirt Costello, chief scientist, International Space Station Program; Norm Knight, deputy manager, Flight Operations Directorate; Benji Reed, senior director, Human Spaceflight Programs, SpaceX, Junichi Sakai, manager, International Space Station, JAXA, Frank de Winne, Manager, International Space Station, ESA, and Brian Cizek, launch weather officer, U.S. Air Force 45th Weather Squadron. Launch is currently targeted for 6:11 a.m. ET Thursday, April 22. The SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, name Endeavour by the Crew-2 astronauts, will launch on a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy. The Crew-2 flight will carry Crew Dragon Commander Shane Kimbrough, Pilot Megan McArthur, Mission Specialist Akihiko Hashide, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Mission Specialist Thomas Pesquet, European Space Agency (ESA) to the space station for a six-month science mission.
