
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – A barge arrives at NASA Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39 turn basin in Florida. The high-fidelity space shuttle model is being transported from Kennedy to Space Center Houston, NASA Johnson Space Center's visitor center. The model will be transported via barge to Texas. The model was built in Apopka, Fla., by Guard-Lee and installed at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in 1993.The model has been parked at the turn basin the past five months to allow the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to begin building a new facility to display space shuttle Atlantis in 2013.
