CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Inside Orbiter Processing Facility-2 at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, a large crane lifts the remote manipulator system (RMS) robotic arm away from space shuttle Atlantis’ payload bay. The RMS will be transported to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston for possible use on future spaceflights. The work is part of the Space Shuttle Program’s transition and retirement processing of shuttle Atlantis. The shuttle is being prepared for display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
