CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- A bald eagle surveys NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida from a power pole along the Kennedy Parkway, which runs parallel to the Shuttle Landing Facility. The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge coexists with Kennedy and provides a habitat for 330 species of birds. A variety of other wildlife, including fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and plants, also inhabit the refuge. For information on the refuge, visit www.fws.gov/merrittisland/Index.html.
