CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – The beauty of the wood stork in flight is captured against the intense blue Florida sky over NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This is a young stork, still showing its yellow beak. Wood storks are found primarily in Florida, wandering to South Carolina and Texas, preferring cypress and mangrove swamps. Kennedy shares a boundary with the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, which is a habitat for more than 310 species of birds, 25 mammals, 117 fishes and 65 amphibians and reptiles.
