CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – In the brush near the NASA News Center at Kennedy Space Center a young hawk perches in a branch while a mockingbird sits above, protecting its territory. The birds are two of more than 330 native and migratory bird species, 25 mammals, 117 fishes and 65 amphibians and reptiles that call Kennedy and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge home.
