
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- In the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, United Space Alliance technicians check the crane attached to space shuttle Discovery. The crane will lift Discovery to the upper levels and lower it into high bay 3. In the bay, Discovery will be mated to the external tank and solid rocket boosters for launch on the upcoming STS-124 mission to the International Space Station. On the mission, the STS-124 crew will transport the Japanese Experiment Module - Pressurized Module and the Japanese Remote Manipulator System to the space station.
