
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - The principals in the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer long-distance attempt talk to the media gathered at a press conference held at NASA Kennedy Space Center’s television studio. Seated from left are Jim Ball, manager of KSC Spaceport Development; Steve Fossett, the pilot; and Sir Richard Branson, chairman and founder of Virgin Atlantic. Steve Fossett will pilot the GlobalFlyer on a record-breaking attempt by flying solo, non-stop without refueling, to surpass the current record for the longest flight of any aircraft.
