KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - The move of STS-1 from the Vehicle Assembly Building to Pad A at Launch Complex 39 was monitored by shuttle team members in Firing Room 1 in the Launch Control Center. The control center was used for Project Apollo's missions to the moon and has been outfitted with a sophisticated new Launch Processing System for the Space Shuttle era.
