Lockheed Martin technicians at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana, complete the final weld on the pressure vessel of the Orion crew module on July 30, 2025. Following the Orion pressure vessel’s final weld completion in July, touch-up paint in mid-August, and finally packing in Crew Module Transportation Fixture and loading the day prior, the fifth Orion spacecraft’s pressure vessel began its journey from Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Kennedy Space Center. It will spend an estimated 1-2 days on the road before being delivered to Florida’s eastern coast, where it will undergo final assembly.
